Lower Body Lift

Lower body lift is a surgical procedure to transform the outline of the lower and mid body into a new and proper shape. This surgical treatment is performed to reshape the abdomen, buttocks, hips and thighs. Lower body lift is also known as belt lipectomy. The parts of lower body lift are a tummy lift, a buttock lift and a thigh lift. Lower body lift is beneficial for those who are burdened with weight and for those who have lost weight a lot. People whose tummy, thigh or buttocks are heavy with weight need to undergo lower body lift.

Persons Who Need to Undergo Lower Body Lift

People whose tummy skin gets tightened and pubic mound is lifted are ideal for a tummy lift or abdominoplasty. Persons with loose and soft skin around the hips will find lateral thigh lift to their benefit. It is often performed along with abdominoplasty. Lateral thigh lift is known as extended abdominoplasty.

Take your arm to the backside to lift your butt with the palms. This will show you why you do need to undergo a butt lift. The conventional procedure of butt lift pulls up the skin by excising it to lift up the butt. If the butt has flattened due to excessive weight loss, persons may have their buttocks injected with fat. The technique or procedure of fat injection is known as brazilian butt lift.

Procedure

A lower body lift is executed by making incision in the lower part of the body. The place of incision depends on the body part that needs to be operated. In case of thigh lifts, incision is made in the upper portion of the thighs. The surgeon makes incisions in the buttocks to perform buttock lifts. Tummy lifts are executed through incisions in the abdomen.

Some special sterile tools are inserted into the body part under the treatment through incisions. The surgeon using the tools lift the excess skin and removes the thick deposit of fat from the operative part of the body. After the surgery, an anti-bacterial and viral ointment is applied on the operative area to prevent bacterial or viral infection. Then, the incisions are closed with stitches and dressed with sterile bandage. It takes at least four to five hours to perform the surgery. Patients are kept senseless under the impact of an anesthesia during the hours of surgery.

Risks and Complications

Patients with prior physical complications may experience some surgical risks. Some of them are as follows:

Bacterial or viral infection
Excessive bleeding
Blood clotting near incisions
Incision scarring
Anesthetic risks
Wound at incisions

Swelling and discomfort due to pain after the surgery are common to all.

Recovery

Lower body lift is a major surgery. Therefore, it takes time to recover absolutely from the surgery. The treated part of the body remains swollen and pain remains persistent for a few days after the operation. Persons who have undergone tummy lift are advised to lie on the back and those having undergone buttock lift should not lie resting on the butts while sleeping. Restriction of movement at post-operative stage is a recommendation for patients. Recovery is faster in case of patients with no complications.
