First of all, an anesthesia is administered to the patient who is supposed to go through the operation right before beginning the surgery. The intensity of anesthesia depends on the overall health of the patient. The surgeon makes delicate incisions in the inner surface of the cheeks to perform the surgery. Then, the tissues that become dead with aging are removed by slicing them off the cheeks. An implant from the other part of the body is inserted to the cheeks in place of the dead tissues. After the insertion, absorbable stitches are made if the incision is made inside the mouth. Stitches are removed in five days if the incision is outside the mouth. The entire procedure of the surgery takes forty five to sixty minutes to finish. After surgery, the place of incision is dressed with a sterile and antibiotic-soaked bandage to minimize swelling and discomfort.
Recovery
Your surgeon will instruct you about how to take post-operative care. You have to restrict your physical activities and diet for a few weeks after the surgery. It is better to take liquid foods for some days to avoid facial movement a little. Stitches that are made inside the mouth will dispel within nearly ten days. You will be required to take pain-killing medicines for two to seven days. It will take you twenty days to thirty days to recover and return to normal activity.
