Buttock Augmentation
Buttock augmentation is a cosmetic process that enhances
the appearance and appeal of a shapeless backside. This
process is not only desired by women but also by the
transsexual and transgender for more feminine curves
to their back. It is also called hip augmentation or
enlargement.
Types Of Buttock Augmentation
There are two kinds of buttock augmentations:
- Buttock lifting
This involves a combination of a butt injection called Brazilian butt lift (fat injections, fat transfer or fat grafting) and liposuction to obtain fat from some other part of the body. The fat obtained is used for the buttock after purification and processing.
- Surgical enlargement
This involves the insertion of synthetic implants or substances like silicone. Buttocks implants are made leak proof with a material called an elastomer. It takes a while to determine whether a candidate is fit for such an implant and thereafter there are some pre-surgical preparations as well. The procedure requires general anaesthesia, an anti-anxiety drug and anti-biotic to prevent infection and takes around 2-4 hours. Hip padding is also often used.
Post Surgical Care And Recovery
After surgery one needs to wear a surgical, compression
or supportive garment, use a cathetre and be on local
anesthetics for the next four days. Antibiotics are
prescribed for 10 day to check infection. Pain, irritation
and bruising that commonly occur right after surgery
may also require medication. One cannot lie on her back
for about two weeks after surgery. Long-term care involves
not sitting on the buttock for long stretches (long
plane rides or car rides, watching movies in a cinema
hall etc.) for around 6 months. Use of a soft cushion
while sitting down is mandatory. Patients can generally
return to work within two weeks after surgery, though
individual cases differ.
